Equipment using Wedge Wire Screens
Non-Clogging:
Wedge wire is a very simple but extremely effective sieve screen and filter design that has been in use globally since the early 1900s. Designed to separate, dewater and filter liquids, slurries and pastes, as well size selection of dry and semi-dry products with minimal clogging or blocking. Smaller particles pass through the Sieve Screen, while larger particles cannot.
Gaps massively increase:
What makes wedge wire so effective over other Sieve types are the V-shaped gaps or slots (across the screen thickness), where the liquid and smaller particles pass through. This is created by the working profile wire strand’s triangular shape of the sieve screen, making the gap smallest (closer together) on the working surface, and progressively getting larger/wider through the thickness of the screen. This widening of the gap is the main reason why wedge wire screens are used in many of our separation, dewatering and filtration pieces of equipment as they almost always eliminate premature blockages that greatly increase system efficiency and reduce downtime.
Generally, for flat screens, the gap size/width on the non-working/underside is around twice the size it is on the working surface and is typically double that for certain curved, coned, and cylindrical screens.
Robust and versatile:
Our wedge wire sieve screens are designed for both, open-to-atmosphere processes as well as closed-circuit pressurised filtration systems, with options for stainless and acid-proof steels to cover most applications to combat corrosion, abrasion, and chemical attack, or simply for aesthetic reasons. They are a fully welded construction (electrofusion) for strength, rigidity, high tolerance, minimal Sieving hindrance, large format manufacturing, and visual appearance. Being a rigid, fully welded construction enables our wedge wire screens to be used in moveable applications, and subject to vibration, heat, pressure, moving & mechanical force. Can be manufactured in various shapes and contours: flat and internal & external curved, cylindrical, conical, and U channel.
High Tech. manufacture:
To increase efficiency for some of our non-compaction equipment, each working profile wire is set in the sieve screen at a 10° angle (tilted) that produces numerous small ledges that force more of the separated liquid to pass through the screen. This unique tilt enhancement not only increases the dry matter of the separated solids element but also speeds up separation and dewatering processes.
Applications:
Being so versatile, our wedge wire sieve screens are used in many of our Dewatering & Separation, Filtration and Augers products, also for functional flooring & drainage/channel cover applications, for architectural & functional designs: outdoor area seating, furniture & designs, exhibition & lobby displays, deck/ mezzanine floors, and building facades.
Vast Range:
There are many sizes and shapes for both the working and support profiles to cater for all project sizes and applications:
- from fine filtration screens using a 0.5 x 1.2mm working profile wire with a 0.02mm gap,
- through to less intricate and architectural projects using a 5.0 x 10.0mm with a 20mm gap.
