Applications:
Many industrial process applications need the size of solid or congealed matter in a relatively free-flowing slurry: reduced, pulverised, or blended, for various reasons, further processing, handling, final product enhancement, etc. This is generally done with a pumping device, specifically designed for this application, commonly referred to as, chopper pumps. rendering pumps, macerating pumps and effluent pumps.
We supply a range of industrial chopper/rendering pumps specifically designed to cope with a vast array of slurries and products, for example, effluent/sewage; livestock manure; offal/animal products; fish; fruit/vegetables; numerous food waste products; grains; pulps; biogas waste; recycling; end of line products, etc. The robust design allows reasonably difficult objects like bones etc. to be rendered.
How they work:
Working on a very simple centrifugal principle, the slurry is gravity fed through the Inlet port into the cavity that has numerous fluted holes around its peripheral. The impeller rotates at high speed (1500 RPM) within the cavity, forcing the slurry through these fluted holes and exiting through the outlet port out to line, any solid matter is pulverised by a combination of the impeller tips and the holes, with a shearing action. For any hard solid objects that cause blockage or overload/stalling, the impeller rotation direction can be reversed (with starter gear) to release the issue, as the design allows these machines to be run clockwise and anticlockwise. Regularly alternating the direction, balances the wear characteristics of the impeller and fluted holes, maintaining efficiency and service life.
As they are primarily a highly effective heavy-duty centrifugal chopper/rendering pump, by design, most of the power input is consumed for that duty, with low pumping ability to simply return into the same vessel or transfer to a locally sited tank. For pumping further, an auxiliary pump can be added and fitted on the output side of the chopper/rendering pump.
Some dirty slurries and products can contain known and unknown, hard, foreign objects such as stones & metal. To stop them from entering the chopper/rendering pump, we have a range of suitable traps to catch them.
Range Options:
A range of six chopper/rendering pumps to cover most duty requirements, ranging from 90mm Inlet/5.5kW through to 200mm Inlet/30kW. All size combinations are mounted on a base plate, with a flexible drive coupling between the drive unit and the unit. This set-up allows for different Drive options: electric motor, hydraulic, petrol/diesel motors and PTO.
